Hello Smash fans, and welcome back to this week’s installment. In this article, we are going to talk about the opening day matchup in the NFL between the Buccaneers and the Cowboys. Without further ado, let’s get into it.
First off, when talking about this game, we have to talk about the offenses of each team. These are two of the best offenses in the league. On one side, you have the greatest quarterback of all time with a solid running back core, two all pro caliber wide receivers, a really good slot wide receiver, and a good tight end group. Additionally, the Buccaneers offensive line is one of the best in the NFL. On the other side, you have Dak Prescott, who some have said is a borderline top 5 quarterback in the league, and most, including myself, believe he’s a top 10 quarterback in the league. Additionally, the Cowboys have one of the top 10 best running backs in the league as well as one of the top 15 receivers in the league. Furthermore, their depth at both wide receiver and running back is great. And, in terms of this game, I would say the offenses are pretty evenly matched.
Now, onto what side of the ball I believe is going to determine this game: the defense. Anyone who really watched the Super Bowl knows that their defense won the Bucs the Super Bowl and for the most part the defense stayed intact during this offseason. Furthermore, this defense also allows Tommy Brady to do what he does best, manage games. On the flipside, the Cowboys do not have a great defense or even a good one at that. Now, I do believe that their defense is gonna be better than they were last year. But I still see them as a 16th or 17th ranked defense and that is not going to do the trick against Tom Brady and this high powered Bucks offense. However, the Tampa Bay defense is most likely going to slow down the Cowboys’ offense. Now, I’m not saying the Cowboys are going to put up 9 points, but I could definitely see them putting up a range of 20 to 25 points. This would not be enough to beat the Buccaneers. I would not be surprised if the Buccaneers score 35 or more on opening night. Not only do they have the better defense, they have the better coaching and it’s not even close. Tom Brady is probably a better coach than Mike McCarthy.
With all the above being said, on opening night the Cowboys are going to lose to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24 to 35. I think the Buccaneers gonna control most of the game, with the first half being close but in the second half the Bucs will pull away.
