NFL Week 17 Preview

Updated: Mar 17, 2021

Hello, Smash fans. As the NFL season draws to a close, I thought it would be nice to look over some key matchups for Week 17 and how those games could impact the playoff picture for the 2021 NFL season.

Browns VS Steelers

Now, both the Steelers and Browns have a lot riding on this game. For the Steelers, it is both their chance to regain some of the momentum they had at the beginning of the season as they enter the playoff and a chance for them to clinch the number two seed. On the other hand, if the Browns lose, they might not make the playoffs. They would need the Indianapolis Colts to lose as well. This puts both teams in a need-to-win situation and in my opinion, it will be the Steelers who come out on top.

Cowboys VS Giants

Now, on the surface, this game may not seem important, however, whoever wins this game just needs Washington to lose for them to make the playoffs. Because of this, both teams are going to try to win this game. Neither team is especially good, but they both will try their hardest. With that in mind, I think superior coaching will win out, and I think the Giants win behind Joe Judge and Jason Garret.

Football Team VS Eagles

Now, I put this in not solely because of the playoff implications. The Eagles are out of the playoff and there is no way for them to get back in. However, if the Eagles are able to win this game and win it convincingly, it makes the quarterback situation really tough in Philly and leaves the future of the franchise very much up in the air. On the flip side, if the Football Team wins, they are in the playoffs, and it completes a season that may see Coach Ron Rivera win Coach of the Year. Now that would be an interesting storyline. In the end, I do think the Football Team will pull out the win and be crowned the champion of the NFC East, or as it is better known, the NFC Least.

Bill VS Dolphins

The Bills/Dolphins game is a near parallel to the Browns/Steelers game. On one side you have a Bills team fighting for the number 2 seed with the aforementioned Steelers. Then, on the other side, you have a Dolphins team that might not make the playoffs if they lose. With this in mind, I think the Dolphins are going to win because I think they are just a little more desperate than the Bills.
