Thank You Tom Brady!
Tom Brady is undoubtably the greatest quarterback to ever step onto the field, and with his retirement this past week, I wanted to reflect on his accomplishments and how insane some of them are.
First off, Tom Brady, in his 22 seasons, made the Super Bowl 10 times. This means that if someone were to pick a random season during Tom Brady‘s tenure, and a random shot that Steph Curry attempted from three, they would have a higher likelihood of picking a season which Tom Brady made the Super Bowl. That is crazy.
Secondly, in Tom Brady‘s 22nd season, he passed for over 5000 yards. A feat achieved under 20 times in the history of the NFL. That is crazy. Tom Brady in his last season before retiring had one of the best seasons by any quarterback ever.
Thirdly, Tom Brady currently has more Super Bowls then every franchise in NFL history. In fact, Tom Brady has more Super Bowls than over half the league combined. That’s crazy. There’s no comparison in any sport. Yes, Bill Russell has more championships, but the Celtics still won championships without Bill Russell and the Lakers have more championships than Bill Russell. Also, Bill Russell did it in a time where there were significantly less teams. Tom Brady has done this in the modern NFL with over 30 teams. That is ridiculous.
Finally, Tom Brady has played in the NFL for half his life up to this point. Tom Brady is currently 44 years old, and he was drafted when he was 22 in the sixth round. This means that arguably the greatest football player of all time was drafted in the sixth round, looks like an overweight college kid, and played over half his like in the NFL. That is wild.
